Op die plaatsen waar alleen de eenvoud en luxe van de natuur heerst, vindt men het authentieke en traditionele Kreta.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Patsos<\/strong> is een van de plekken waar u van dit landschap kunt genieten. Patsos biedt zijn gasten landschappen met een rijke natuurlijke schoonheid, unieke historische en culturele attracties, een uitstekende lokale bevolking <strong><a title=\"Taverna\" href=\"https:\/\/patsosescape.com\/nl\/taverna\/\">traditionele Kretenzische keuken<\/a><\/strong> en vooral de beroemde gastvrijheid van de mensen. Het ligt 20 km ten zuiden van <a title=\"Rethymno\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rethymno.gr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Rethymnon<\/strong> <\/a>op een hoogte van 490m, aan de voet van de berg <strong>Soros<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Patsos is een klein groen dorp in de voormalige provincie <strong>Amari<\/strong>. Nu is het een district van de gemeente Amari. Eromheen zijn de dorpen <strong>Karines<\/strong>, <strong>Pantanassa<\/strong> en <strong>Gerakari<\/strong>. Als je naar Patsos komt, krijg je de indruk dat je een vredige, andere wereld binnengaat. Hier domineren de geuren van de natuur en bloemen en de geluiden van zingende vogels en stromend water. Het dorp heeft een rijke vegetatie. Het produceert allerlei soorten voedsel van goede kwaliteit, zoals olijfolie, walnoten, kersen en veel verschillende soorten fruit. Deze vegetatie en gewassen worden bewaterd door de vele bronnen die het hele jaar door het dorp passeren.<\/p>\n<p>We weten niet wanneer het dorp werd gesticht. Maar het is bekend dat er nederzettingen in het gebied waren uit de vroege Mino\u00efsche periode of eerder, zoals blijkt uit de vondsten in de nabijgelegen grot in de <strong>Agios Antonios kloof<\/strong>, bekend als de <strong>Kranaios-grot<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Het dorp wordt vermeld in Barozzi met 110 inwoners in 1577. In de volkstelling van 1881 wordt gemeld dat het tot de gemeente Merona behoort en 301 inwoners heeft (14 Grieken en 287 Turken). In 1920 werd verklaard dat Patsos administratief tot de Pantanassa-gemeenschap behoorde, en in 1940 werd het officieel zijn eigen administratieve gemeenschap.<\/p>\n<p>Aan de rand van het dorp ligt de verwoeste kerk van de Maagd Maria, die ooit een kathedraal was.<\/p>\n<p>Ten noorden van het dorp is de <strong>Grot van Kranaios Ermis<\/strong>, in de <a title=\"Wandelen naar de kloof van Patsos\" href=\"https:\/\/patsosescape.com\/nl\/hiking-to-the-gorge-of-patsos\/\"><strong>kloof van Agios Antonios<\/strong><\/a>. Deze grot was gewijd aan de verering van <strong>Hermes<\/strong>, zoals blijkt uit de inwijdingsinscriptie \u201c\u0395\u03c1\u03bc\u03ae \u039a\u03c1\u03b1\u03bd\u03b1\u03af\u03c9, \u0394\u03ce\u03c1\u03bf\u03c2 \u03a3\u03c4\u03b5\u03c6\u03ac\u03bd\u03c9 \u03b5\u03c5\u03c7\u03ae\u03bd\u201d (tot Hermes-god van de bronnen bid ik door deze krans als een geschenk te plaatsen).<\/p>\n<p>De eerste opgravingen in de grot begonnen in <strong>1885-6 door F. Halbherr<\/strong>, op de plaats waar nu de<strong> kerk van Agios Antonios<\/strong>. De meeste vondsten waren antropomorfe en zo\u00f6morfe beeldjes, die zich nu in de <strong>Museum van Heraklion<\/strong>. De opgravingen toonden aan dat de <strong>Mino\u00efers<\/strong> hield rituelen voornamelijk in schuilplaatsen in de rotsen, en vond botten van dieren die op de brandstapel werden gezet, evenals vazen en beeldjes.<\/p>\n<p>Bij dezelfde opgravingen werd ook een standbeeld van de mythische god Pan gevonden. Tegenwoordig heeft het directoraat Bosbescherming deze ruimte zo geconfigureerd dat deze toegankelijker en aangenamer is voor bezoekers en de aanbidding voor de <strong>kapel van Agios Antonios<\/strong>, die is uitgehouwen in de rotsen van de kloof. Bezoekers kunnen genieten van de schaduw van de oude platanen en de rotsschuilplaatsen, evenals van het kalme rivierwater dat door de kloof stroomt om uit te komen bij de <strong>Potamoi-dam<\/strong>. Ze kunnen ook het aangelegde pad volgen dat van de grot naar de dam leidt.<\/p>\n<p>De <a title=\"Wandelen naar de kloof van Patsos\" href=\"https:\/\/patsosescape.com\/nl\/hiking-to-the-gorge-of-patsos\/\"><strong>Kloof van Patsos<\/strong><\/a> ligt ongeveer 2 km ten zuiden van het dorp Patsos. Het is een goede keuze voor natuurliefhebbers en daarbuiten. Het is net een kleine botanische tuin. Het oversteken van de kloof duurt ongeveer twee uur, is relatief eenvoudig en kan bijna het hele jaar door worden uitgevoerd.
